Simply buying label clothing does not make you fahionable/mean you have style. Agree / disagree?

Whilst in my local shopping centre the other day I overheard a vacuous conversation being had between two girls standing near me - one of them said to the other "Oh yeah, *man's name* he's got well good style cause he buys only label clothing...".

Being a total vintage clothing junkie who takes a lot of grief from the local chavs and townies for the way I present myself, my opinion is that it doesn't matter about where you obtain your clothes from (it could be vintage clothing shops, ebay, charity shops, high street, label stores), if you aren't a dipsh*t, know how to match styles and colours, have an eye for what looks good and ultimately feel confident with yourself, your style and what you are wearing, then that's what it's all about.

What are people's opinions?

I totally agree with you. People who only buy labels do so because they have no individual sense of style and are simply buying into the image created by the marketing agencies working on behalf of these big-label companies.

I'm sure we can all think of the girl we've known who always seems to have a gorgeous, unique bag or broach or dress and more often than not she hasn't bought if from a mass-produced label shop but from somewhere smaller or less well-known which gives her that difference.

Personally I mix my clothes from all kinds of shops including vintage, some high-street, primark (yes you've got to give the place a chance) and by modifying my own clothes sometimes. If you use such variety then you can be sure of a unique look which is much better than being another clone!
